Interested athletes (who are not previous members of an Athletics Club) have the option to “trial for one week” at a cost of $10.00 per session.  One week is considered a reasonable trial period.  After this period, a decision must be made whether to complete the registration or not participate. You can only trial at a club meet, and must be a fully registered athlete to participate at training sessions.

Results from the trial day will not be included in the athlete’s performance for the year. Results commence from the date of registration.

ALL ATHLETES - 4 YEARS TO MASTERS

The Club uniform consists of a club polo shirt which is available for purchase. The polo shirt should be worn with plain black shorts, Cairns Athletics shorts or bike pants (with no prominent brand names or logos of any description visible).  Hats are a necessary item of the Club uniform and are part of our Club’s sun safe policy.  Cairns Athletics hats can be purchased at the registration desk.  4 and 5 year olds may wear a plain red t-shirt with plain black shorts.

The Club has a singlet which can be worn by athletes 13 years to Masters as an alternative to the Club polo shirt.  Crop top and running shorts are also available for purchase for female athletes.   

All registered athletes must only wear Club uniform with current ANQ registration number (affixed to the front and back of the shirt) and age labels, if appropriate, affixed to the left sleeve, at all Club and ANQ sanctioned competitions.

FOOTWEAR

Non marking flat soled shoes only on the track surface, except for authorised athletics spikes (7mm on the track surface).  Enclosed shoes must be worn at all times for protection from injury from athletics equipment.  Reef sandals and thongs are not acceptable.  Once children reach 11 years of age, they are able to wear spikes for track and field events.

ANQ NUMBERS

Once issued, this number remains the athlete’s registration number for the duration of their affiliation with Athletics North Queensland and is transferrable between clubs.  If you lose your ANQ number, a new number can be re-issued at a cost of $10.  Please see the volunteers at the registration desk if you require any further information.

UNIFORM PRICES

New registrations will not be processed until proof of age (birth certificate/drivers licence/passport) for new members is provided.  Athletes will be unable to compete within the club competition until proof of age has been verified, in accordance with ANQ /LAQ rules.
