Cairns Athletics was formed 16 October 2005 and Incorporated 10 November 2006 and Incorporates Cairns Little Athletics (Formed May 1984) & Cairns & District Athletics Club Inc (revived 1976).  Cairns Athletics is a family orientated club and we aim to provide athletes of all ages with the opportunity to grow and develop in the sport of Athletics.

Our Club is based at Barlow Park and Club days are held Friday nights or Sunday mornings, depending on bookings at Barlow Park for other events.  See Calendar section for the club competition dates.

Club Meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month in the room off the bar area at Barlow Park. Meetings commence at 6:30pm.  All members and parents are welcome.

Blue Card
All Cairns Athletic Committee Members, Chief Officials, Canteen Conveners and Team Managers must possess a Blue Card. A register is kept of all volunteers who currently hold a blue card, including number and expiry date.

Parent helpers are not required to hold a Blue Card, although we do encourage them, and forms are available from the Club Registrar or online.
Officials
Parents are encouraged to become qualified Officials. They are an integral part of our club, not only vital for our carnivals, but the knowledge gained increases competency on the field each club day. This ensures smooth running of all events. If you are interested in becoming an Official please see one of committee members to register your interest.
Code of Conduct
This year our coaches will be conducting general group training/coaching on various disciplines, on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5.15pm to 6.30pm. Advanced throws training on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5.15pm (please check eligibility requirements for advanced throws). These times may change throughout the year. Training may be conducted on other days depending upon coaches’ availability and requirements of athletes. Changes and updates will be advised in weekly club newsletters. Athletes 8 years and older, including masters, are welcome to participate. Athletes u13 years of age must have a parent / career at Barlow Park during the training sessions.

Are you interested in becoming a Coach? The Club provides training each year to further develop our coaches’ skills. Our Club will subsidise a coach’s training expenses and full details are available from our committee members. Please ask for details.
